Yesterday was dubbed “Women’s Wednesday” in Vancouver. Women, CANADIAN women that is, swept the medals yesterday.
Clara Hughes, Ladies 500o m Speed Skating: BRONZE
Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse, Women’s 2-“man” Bobsleigh: GOLD
Helen Upperton and Shelley-Ann Brown, Women’s 2-“man” Bobsleigh: SILVER
Ladies 3000 m Short Track Speed Skating Relay: SILVER
Amazing!! So proud of everyone. However, I am most proud of the hometown hero of Summerside, PEI: HEATHER MOYSE!! Emily (my sister) and Rhiannon headed up to Whistler, yesterday, to watch the gold medal finish of the women’s bobsleigh! Emily is very good friends with Heather’s brother, Walter, and together with his family they cheered on the Canada women like no cheering has been heard before!!
Heather and the Moyse family are from Summerside, PEI- hometown of my mom and really my entire family. We consider ourselves transient residents of beautiful Summerside and we are always proud of the little town on the harbour of Prince Edward Island.
Here is a fabulous picture, my sister Emily took of the Canadian women.

As I watch the Olympians everyday I do think about their “day” jobs, their families, and of course their hometowns. Each of these athletes, whether they are from Toronto, ON or Summerside, PEI- they are ALL hometown heroes!
